Leg Lengthening

Leg lengthening is a surgical procedure designed to increase the length of the bones. This technique involves the use of advanced medical devices and methods to ensure accurate and controlled lengthening of the bones. The process typically includes the following steps:
  1. Preoperative Planning: Detailed imaging and measurements are taken to plan the surgery and determine the desired length increase.
  2. Surgical Procedure: The bone is carefully minimal invasive opened, and a specialized device, such as an iinternal lengthening nail, is applied to gradually (approx 1mm a day) stretch the bone, by a remote magnetic device, whisch the patient can apply himself, 2-3 times per day
  3. Postoperative Care: Regular monitoring and adjustments are made to ensure the bone is lengthening correctly and healing properly. Physical therapy is often required to aid in recovery and improve mobility.
Precise leg lengthening is often used to correct leg length discrepancies, improve mobility, and enhance the overall quality of life for individuals with conditions affecting leg length. It requires careful planning, skilled surgical execution, and diligent postoperative care to achieve the best results.
